Te Urewera Hut Warden - 3 Months

Tūhoe – Te Uru Taumatua exists to implement a concerted effort toward raising Tūhoe lifestyles. We now require a team of Hut Wardens for the summer season in Waikaremoana to communicate our biodiversity priorities and local history to Te Urewera hut users. The hut wardens' role is to ensure huts are kept to a high standard focusing on user experience. This role is part time on a rotating roster, which requires the Hut Warden to stay at the hut five nights on and five nights off. To be successful you will be familiar with the location, have an understanding of the local history and culture of Tūhoe, and have a desire to contribute to Te Urewera.

Communications Team Lead

Tūhoe – Te Uru Taumatua is looking for an innovative media and communications professional to join our organisation and lead the Communications Team. Using a Tūhoe lens, you will translate the annual priorities into written and visual materials ensuring they are aligned with Tūhoe values and Tūhoetana.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will facilitate all external media engagements, ensuring the Communications Team provides relevant, timely and consistent work and collaborate with Tūhoe Tribal Authorities to effectively deliver governing publications of Tūhoe – Te Uru Taumatua.

To be successful in this role you must be fluent in oral and written Te Reo Māori and have a demonstrated high level of communication skills.

didymo advocate - fixed term 8 weeks

We now require an advocate to increase public awareness of aquatic plant pests in order to prevent new pest populations within Lakes Waikaremoana and Waikareiti. Your primary tasks, undertaken during peak times of activity around boat ramps and fishing spots, will be informing lake and river users of the threat of Didymo, recording movement of users and distributing fact sheets. 

This is a solo role requiring daily visits to motor camps and key accommodation providers to undertake survey work. This position is eight hours a day, with a minimum of 35 hours worked a week. This fixed term role supports the peak, visitor summer season. A clean, full drivers licence is a requirement as a vehicle is supplied for this role.

assistant accountant 

We now require an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our busy Finance Team in Tāneatua to support the delivery and development of fiscal services. This role will provide accounting and finance expertise to assist the Chief Financial Officer and Financial Coordinator; Ensuring Te Uru Taumatua maintains a high standard of financial accountability and compliance.

A relevant qualification in Accounting, Business or significant business experience is essential. The successful candidate will have an advanced knowledge of MS Excel and be able to produce reports and performance results for internal and external customers. An eye for detail, a desire to continuously improve processes, and an enquiring mind are crucial to this role.
