Who can get the vaccine

WHO CAN GET THE BOOSTER

If you are 18+ boosters are available for all those vaccinated and having had their second shot 3 months plus ago.

This is in response to waning immunity over time from the first 2 vaccine shots.  The science says that optimum benefit from the Booster is achieved at 6 months post second shot, with a minor reduction at 5 months.  However, bringing the eligible time back to 3 months enables NZ to have an additional 1m eligible to get boosted, thereby providing 'good' short term public health benefits.

It is clear the booster will give you up to 4 months protection.

Boosters are not available for Under 18 year olds as the science and data is being considered.  It is anticipated more information will be available mid February.
