New Wharehou Board receive Blessings

Today marked the inaugural meeting of the new Board of Tūhoe Te Uru Taumatua and appropriately tikanga and blessings was the first order of business conducted upon our new Board members. Led by our Pakeke Te Rangipuke Tari, Haaki Ata, Ponty Hauwaho and Hori Uatuku, the new Board and other whanau congregated at the river by the Taneatua Bridge, where our Pakeke conducted karakia, so moving, that tears were evident though out the ceremony. In addition our Pakeke also unveiled the new Te Uru Taumatua signage entering the office complex.

The issue of access permits increases to 12’ 968 for the 12 months ending 31 July 2011, which is significant. With the support of CNI Iwi in the Registration of Beneficiaries prior to issuing permits, has effectively seen a reduction in trespass offences and compliancy, which suggest beneficiaries are aware and meeting the new access policy requirements, which is most encouraging.

Maori trust to build new rotary cowshed

A production boost is expected at Te Manawa o Tuhoe Maori Trust's Hatupere farm in Ruatoki.

A karakia and a tree-planting ceremony were held at the farm last Thursday to prepare for the construction of a 54-bale rotary cowshed.
