Ngā Rawa – Assets (The office of sustainable Tūhoe Growth)
Foreword
The current economic situation of many Tūhoe whānau is bleak. There is widespread poverty, high unemployment, low educational achievement and limited opportunities for gainful employment or higher education. While futures are bright, conditions may not improve quickly, long and short-term planning is needed.
A planned iwi asset audit and an economic summit to access relevant technologies and database line information are in train to give us a robust economic development strategy.
A united Tūhoe is a strong Tūhoe. Numerous hui across Tūhoe have called for the unification of Tūhoe entities which is why Consolidation of Tūhoe entity’s is at the forefront of TET action plan.
Why consolidate?
With all entities being committed to consolidation, a bright future awaits.
Tūhoe’s current wealth
The current Tūhoe entities of Tūhoe Establishment Trust, Tūhoe Waikaremoana Māori Trust board and Tūhoe fisheries Charitable Trust accumulated assets is worth more than 192 Million Dollar’s. Consolidation of these assets and efforts will lead to more efficient and effective achievement of outcomes.
