The Tūhoe Establishment Trust was established May 2009 and mandated by Tūhoe to achieve the following vision over a two year period;
- TO CREATE A NEW GENERATION TUHOE AUTHORITY
Its mission therefore was to;
- PROVIDE A CREDIBLE BLUEPRINT FOR THE NEW GENERATION TŪHOE AUTHORITY
Tūhoe Endorses Blueprint
Following two years of hui, consultation, presentations, road shows, Tūhoe input,
Tūhoe feedback, research, interviews, collaboration, testing, expert opinion, legal opinion, reviews, planning, reporting, the Blueprint was finally produced in March 2011 and endorsed and adopted by Tūhoe on 31 July 2011. The Tūhoe endorsement was overwhelming with 96% vote of support for the Blueprint.
The overwhelming support for the Blueprint brought to an end the mandate of the Tūhoe Establishment Trust and by virtue of that support, has being superseded by the Tūhoe Trust or otherwise known as Tūhoe – Te Uru Taumatua which is the “New Generation Tūhoe Iwi Authority”.
