My name is Clifford Akuhata. I was born and bred in Te Waimana. Nā Whitiaira Turuwhenua ahau, nā Pura Akuhata I whāngai. My kūia is Hinehou Te Paoro o Ngāti Tāwhaki. My koroua is Te Uaua Turuwhenua. One of my hapū is Ngāti Rere.
I am the chairman of Te Waimana Kaaku Tribal Executive Committee and one of its representatives on Te Kotahi A Tūhoe. I am self-employed and married to Queenie Nopera from Te Aupouri. Two children and two mokopuna.
Hobbies: rugby, hunting, hui, tramping, whānau, reading, whakapapa, farming , computing, Tūhoe, fishing, growing kai, and generally using god- given tools to improve opportunities for us.

I went through the Maori Affairs Trade Training scheme, so consequently I did Engineering for 27 years and the last 17 years I have been a kaiako o te reo me ōna tikanga.
My wife Dianne & I have 4 children, 10 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren.
Te Kotahi a Tūhoe ka kata te po. The people have spoken & I am very excited about been part of the TKAT Mandate not only for our claims, it also keeps me in touch with the home fires of te waa kāinga.

James Edward Doherty

I was born in Ngaputahi 1937 educated at Te Whāiti Native Primary School, St Peters Maori Boys College, joined the Forest service 1954, joined Kaingaroa Logging Company 1960 which was based in Murupara. I married in 1961, joined the Forest Service 1970 as part of a special team known as the West Coast Beach Scheme based in Reefton. Come 1987 I worked for the Forestry Corporation and retired early in 1994.

My passion & wawata, energy and focus in terms of Tūhoetanga is getting Te Urewera back under Tūhoe.
Lorna Taylor

Married to Neal, we have four tamariki and we live at Waikaremōana.
Educated at Tūai and Kōkako primary schools, went on to board at Gisborne Girls High School, Central Institute of Technology, Te Atahou Trust, Te Whare Wānanga-o-Raukawa and currently studying full time at Anamata Private Training Institute in Whakatāne.
I am a trustee of Te Kotahi ā Tūhoe and a member of Tūhoe Te Mana Motuhake mai Waikaremōana.
Dr Rāwinia Higgins
Ngāti Rongo, Te Urewera, Ngāti Koura
Dr Rāwinia Higgins grew up in Wellington and has been a member of Tūhoe ki Pōneke for most ofher life.
She was educated at Arakura (Wainuiomata) and Rūātoki Primary Schools, St Joseph’s Māori Girls’ College (Napier), Victoria University and the University of Otago. She is currently employed by Te Ataarangi Trust as a Researcher and is a Post-graduate supervisor (part-time) at Te Kawa a Māui, Victoria University of Wellington.
Dr Higgins has always had a passion for Tūhoe history, identity issues, politics, and social issues and hopes that she will be able to make a contribution to the future development of the iwi.

I am committed to representing the interests of all Tūhoe whānui, the interest of the Tūhoe Fisheries Charitable Trust & Te Kotahi ā Tūhoe.
In my role as a kaiako, lecturer at the University of Hawai’i, and kūia for Te Tira Hou Marae, my skills will be utilised to futher Tūhoe development. I am also committed to representing the interests of our people, keeping them informed, particularly those of us Tūhoe living in the Auckland region.
